It’s funny what you remember from a visit to the hospital. This is especially true if you are put under sedation. The last thing you remember before the lights go out can tend to burn a memory into your brain cells.
It might sound odd, but one of the things that I remember from my stay in the hospital for the delivery of our son was the healthcare carts they used to attach the iv and the monitor of my vitals. Maybe it’s because one was practically staring me in the face as I pushed and struggled to deliver our newborn son.

I’d love to take a trip across the continent in an rv and see such sights as the Grand Canyon and the Redwood forest of California. Only that way could we take our time and do it right – and not be rushed by flight schedules or hotel checkouts. At our house we have four computers – including three separate monitors and three more printers. Putting aside the number of computers for the moment, you might wonder why we'd need three printers. Well, each one tends to be best suited for a particular thing. The laser printer prints out documents fast – when all we need is a quick printout of some simple text document like a resume.
We have another printer that does the bulk of our scanning documents for us. And then we have one more printer that shines as far as printing high quality photo prints. One thing we don't have is good document imaging software to go along with the scanning printer. So the scanning we
do is rather basic – without the capability of a high quality OCR program.

We took a few trips this summer as a family to the most popular theme parks in our area. We hadn’t been to one park in particular for many years, so many of the rides and attractions were unfamiliar. There were the usual rides that have been around since the very beginning. And there was of course the signature attraction of divers diving off the man-made mountain in the center of the park.
This is hard to miss, as the central square literally rumbles with its soundtrack being pumped through probably dozens of outdoor speakers surrounding the whole area. The sound almost made the hair stand on end as the divers did their amazing feats.

Do you want to learn to play the guitar? I used to be so jealous of people who knew how to play the guitar. They just seemed to have it all together. I’m talking about the ones at the summer camp or party who could pick up a guitar and just start jamming out tune after tune - to the delight of the other party-goers or campers.
To me, the art of playing the guitar seemed too hard for the rest of us “mortals” and so I just resigned myself to being one of those who would never learn guitar and left the guitar playing to the “gods” among us.

I feel so bad that my tomatoes gotten bad and wasn’t able to enjoy them I guess I planted so late this year or maybe it has something with the weather. I harvested them all and left them outside but I forgot to take them inside and now they are all rotten and can’t be eaten anymore. Well better next time and at I learned a lesson from this. I have to remember though to get more of those tomato cages to support the plant so they won’t crawl on the ground. That’s what happens with my tomatoes because I don’t have enough support for the plants. Maybe you have some tips to give out please share them.

My daughter loves invitations like most six-year-olds I know. She usually comes running in the door with a shout of glee when she has just received any new invitation to a friend’s party. It’s natural that kids should be so excited about birthday parties because they equate them with a lot of fun, games, cake and loot bags.
For my daughter though, making invitations is just as much fun. When she was younger, she used to spend hours thinking about it and then making the invitations up herself. Now, a bit older, she takes less time because she has become more efficient in creating them.

This to me is an ominous sign of the times. The rfid technology is being incorporated into many items, such as credit cards and passports, to enable wireless, touchless identification. There are reportedly even some people demanding to have these chips embedded in their bodies! It’s beyond me how anyone would even think of doing that.
There is another insidious aspect of this technology that I only just became aware of. Apparently, thieves and pickpockets are able to read the radio signals emitted from these wireless chips and steal your information without even having to touch you or your pocket! In our younger days - in the days of CDs - we took our music much more seriously. I was - and still am - a big fan of artists such as Celine Dion and Sharon Cuneta. And I collected quite a number of these artists’ CDs, along with a lot of other artists’ music.

Last night, I was up late and watching TV when I caught one of those late night infomercials… you know - the kind that have impossibly upbeat hosts, and positive testimonial after positive testimonial. I admit that I’ve always been fascinated by these half hour long commercials, even though I’ve long since stopped being fooled by their sales pitches.

What’s so fascinating to me is that even though I know that the products that they’re trying to sell can’t possibly be as good as they’re telling me, I still find myself being lead - almost in a kind of trance - to believe that they are all that they say they are and can do.

Last night, among all the usual infomercials, I saw one for a new lady grooming product promising to make hair removal a snap - as easy as removing shaving cream from your skin I gather. Although it sounded neat, I never believe claims like this anymore without checking them out first.

So I went to the internet and typed the product name into my favourite search engine. As expected, the first page was filled with glowing review sites that I have also learned from experience not to trust. You have to click at least a few pages of results deeper to find the real scoop on any product. After some time clicking like that, I finally found some honest reviews and opinions from real people. The reviews were not good.

That’s the problem with the internet as far as shopping online is concerned, in my opinion. You don’t know who to trust. And more often than not, the big search engines stuff the first pages of results with false positive reviews.

So, when you just want to find out who has the best deals on a shag rug, for example, you end up wasting your time going through bad search results. It’s kind of ironic because the internet was supposed to make shopping easier.

I’ve sometimes given up in frustration when I’ve been looking for something as simple as a slipcover online. But, it has helped me to know that there are still honest people out there. The trick is to find them of course. It has also become a lot easier to spot the real deals by going straight to commercial shopping sites that have high standards for products and reviews.

Here’s another example: Suppose you just moved into your new home and you happen to be looking for a lift top coffee table. You know the internet is the largest marketplace anywhere so that’s obviously the best place to be looking for the best selection and deals. But it also helps to know what sites to deal with - and even sites to go direct to - instead of messing around in your favourite search engine wasting precious hours of your time.

We moved to our current location almost two years ago. In fact, coming up this September, it will be two years. Our present house is very different from our previous one in quite a few ways. For the most part, the differences are an improvement over the last house we lived in.

Our last house was a detached bungalow sitting on a 50 by 100 foot lot. It included a very generous driveway and a sizeable backyard. If not for the bungalow style floor plan, there would have been even more yard space. But as it was, there was plenty enough for gardening and even for a large sized pool if we wanted one.

The previous owners of our first house had done a beautiful job of landscaping with a rock garden in the front yard and various garden plots in the backyard. So there really wasn’t much for us to do as far as landscaping. However, we did enjoy our beautiful perennial gardens with their Echinacea flowers and various others.

In contrast, our current house is a townhome which provides significantly less yard space. There is still space for a minimal garden at the back where we are presently growing tomatoes and eggplants. But that is about it. And anyway, the townhome complex management is quite strict about what they will allow outdoors. In return, they actually do almost all of the upkeep of the yard space - including taking care of the perennials and shrubbery. It is very nice to not have to worry about such things now.

I’m glad that my vegetables I grow in the backyard is doing well and looking healthy. The tomatoes are growing so fast and fruits are starting to come out. My eggplants are also flowering although it’s not as fast as the tomatoes. I also grow peppers and cucumbers. I’m hoping to see more fruit vegetables very soon!

Two nights ago the machine from op. 20 was down. I think the belt was broken and they were trying to fix it when I arrived for my shift.
