1. Gauge your effectiveness. Use a rain gauge to determine how much water your lawn has received - a healthy lawn needs only about one inch of water per week.
2. Give 'em a drink of rainwater. Use a rain barrel to collect rain water to use on your lawn and garden. Make sure the rain barrel has a screened lid.
